3D-Competition at ORF Musikprotokoll
The finals of the Student 3D Audio Competition will not take place until November 8, but the nominated productions in category 1 of the competition were already presented yesterday at the ORF musikprotokoll in Graz. The ORF event runs until October 6 and uses the Graz location “Dom im Berg” for concerts and audio playbacks, where an Ambisonics system with 50 channels is available. This is ideal for presenting the immersive productions of the 3D competition.
Category 1 is dedicated to contemporary computer music. The three nominees Youngjae Cho, Ágnes Klára Máthé and Avenar Kasszian Banföldi (named in random order) were each able to introduce themselves with a pre-produced video contribution and then present their submitted immersive production. Information on the three submissions is also available on the competition website.
The nominees in the other two categories 2 (Audio Drama / Documentary / Soundscapes) and 3 (Music Recording / Studio Production) will also be presented on the website shortly and the productions will then also be available to listen to binaurally with head tracking.
The “Student 3D Audio Production Competition 2024” is a production of the IEM (Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics) and the KUG (University of Music and Performing Arts Graz) in cooperation with the VDT as well as ORF musikprotokoll and Sounding Future.
Save the date: On the 8th of November you can listen to the finals - in Graz, in some Public Hearing Events or online.
