Spatial Audio Listening Session (SALS)

The VDT's Young Talents Department, in cooperation with the AES Student Section Hamburg, invites you to the Spatial Audio Listening Session (SALS) on November 29th from 4 p.m. (16 o'clock). We will meet in a cozy atmosphere in the Immersive Audio Lab on the 3rd floor of the new building at Finkenau 35 to listen to spatial audio pieces and to chat about them over a cold drink.

Numerous formats can be played back via more than 30 speakers in the Immersive Audio Lab, from quadraphonic pieces to 5.1 Dolby Surround and Dolby Atmos to Ambisonics 7th Order.

On this date, everything is about squaring the circle - or something like that. Quadraphonic, the playback of pieces via four speakers, is considered the predecessor of Dolby Surround. In addition to music, a few films were also produced quadraphonically during their heyday from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. Curator Leon Sudahl will show us a selection of pieces from electronic and popular music.

Participation is only possible with registration at this email address , as we can only offer 15 places. Afterward there will be an opportunity to continue the discussion in a small group.
